The Explosion of Bath and Body Products |

It is amazing to me the amount of merchandize choices we have today.
There are so many specialty stores as well as huge department stores
with specialized merchandize. There is also the option of getting items
on line. It seems that one of the trends is the number of products that
are available to help people look younger.
Many people contribute this to the fact that such a large portion of the population is aging. As the generation of baby boomers age they seem to be fighting the process the entire way. This is not a generation that is going to fade away into retirement. This is the population that is buying bath and body products to the tune of millions of dollars.
It used to be that the bath and body products industry would focus on teenage girls as well as young adult women. Now the commercials and advertisements are geared towards the middle aged and older. Each week there seems to be a new marketing campaign that is designed to make you look younger, take years off your face in one treatment or make wrinkles disappear.
I guess the use of bath and body products is preferable to plastic surgeries. Bath and body products do offer a solution that is not as radical or expensive as having cosmetic procedures done. It seems that trends shift and what is popular for one group of people fades away in time.
I am hoping that as time passes people will once again take pride in the wrinkles and grey hairs that they have earned on their road of life. I know women that will cry and go into a deep depression at the signs of wrinkles. I have never been able to understand why the passage of time and aging seems to surprise so many people.
It is only common sense that as we age our skin, hair, muscles and bones are going to age with us. Taking care of ourselves needs to be a life long process, not a panic attack of bath and body products at middle age. My sister is a person that loved to have a tan. She would lie in the sun for hours as a teenager and young woman.
Now that she is in her fifties this is evident in the skin on her face. She is one that is always looking at the newest bath and body products to find a way to rejuvenate her skin. She wishes now that she had listened to our mother when she was growing up. Our mother cautioned her about what the sun can do to your skin.
