I think at this stage we are all pretty aware of the damaging effects of the sun and why it's so vital that we protect our skin with sun screens. Let the sun shine in but don't over do it.

Ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays are invisible to the human eye, yet can be very damaging to the skin, and yes even deadly, if we are over exposed by not employing the proper protection. UV rays can and does cause skin cancer, altered pigmentation, dilated blood vessels, and changes in the texture of the skin.

These all play a large role in the aging of skin as well, which is heightened by over exposure to the sun.  When we get sunburned that means that our skin has been damaged, and getting multiple sunburns or being constantly exposed to the sun without sun screen protection, places us at high risk for contracting skin cancer.

This also applies if our skin is tanned or bronzed. Even if the skin is not sunburned, damage has taken place.  Contrary to popular belief, tans are not good for you either.

A great many varieties of sun screens have been used to safely limit our exposure to the damaging rays of the sun. Sun screens worn on our skin provide the most protection as long as they are applied as directed.

Staying out of the sun during certain hours of the day is always the best way to avoid damaging your skin, or short of that, wearing protective clothing like hats and longsleeve shirts of the next best thing.  There are other Sun screens in addition to the ones that we apply to our skin.

Sun screens, such as window tinting, sun shades, and other types sun filtering agents are readily available for buildings and vehicles to screen or block out sunlight and heat and offer us protection.

For many homeowners in warmer parts of the country, using the proper sunscreens and are vitally important because of the sun's intense rays. Window tinting on vehicles is a must have, as well as window blinds, light filtering curtains and or shades, along with patio shades or screened enclosures if you plan on spending time outdoors.

Because of our increased knowledge of the dangers of overexposure to the sun many businesses now specialize in making your home more efficient and protecting you and your family from the sun.

Sun screens are beneficial to everyone, even if you love the sun, always tan, and don’t think you will ever get skin cancer.  There are far too many people that never thought they would contract skin cancer only to later succumb to it. Sun screen applied to your skin is probably the most convenient and cheapest way to protect yourself and your family from the sun's rays.

Sun screens are very easy to put on and are now standard in many facial, lip, and body moisturizing products.  There are really have no excuses not to protect yourself and your family from the harmful rays of the sun. Protect your skin, it could end up saving your life. Be smart and use sun screens.
